the invention of lying .....

this film is genius!
enough said.

I heard really bad reviews about it and so I was ready to side with everyone else that it was crap......but as soon as I started watching it I loved it!
It is an amazing concept - basically a world where the concept of lying had never been invented.
So all conversations were factual and honest - all films were historical and based on things that had happened in the past as the idea of fiction had never been invented.

An interesting twist is when one man somehow invents lying completely by accident and then it goes too far - he ends up creating the idea of the 'man in the sky' - obviously making connections to religion and God.

I honestly thought it was clever, and far from being offensive  to religion - it was actually refreshing and harmless!

another genius invention from Ricky Gervais.
Give it a watch!

Culinary skills ...

This week my mum is away on holiday and so that means while I am at home I am responsible for the food that is cooked
so far I have managed a Salmon salad (with beetroot, potato salad and red onion) and a very lovely Prawn and Chorizo Paella with salad and eton mess for dessert :)

New nails

.... finally after finishing my essays and exams I have treated myself to having my nails done!
There are very few things that I enjoy more than having beautifully manicured and acrylic nails!
Luckily my cousin runs her own nail bar and so I get mine FREE!
I did have to wait till my exam was over however as I tend to get ink all over my hands during exams and I didn't wanna' ruin my nail finish!

These are the beauties ...

pretty aren't they?

Oh so Italia

I took a little weekend off to visit my boyfriend in Chester this week and it was just like a little holiday.
The great weather we have been having combined with having no real work to do was a welcome break from the stress of Uni. (and as we are unable to take a summer holiday this year due to G's work commitments it was perfect)

We went out to dinner on Saturday to celebrate G's new job, we chose a little Italian restaurant called Ristorante Sergio and it was the most perfect evening - an amazing menu, with generous portions and beautiful ambiance - it truly was like being in Italy again sat in a little restaurant in the warm air.
I had the Fusilli Monterosso (which had prawns, courgette and pasta) and Mela Casalinga for dessert (which is a fruit tart) - delicious!

I also spent my days sight seeing around Chester, even though I have been visiting there on a regular basis for almost a year now - I have hardly seen any of the local sights.
My favourite day was a visit to Chester Cathedral in the morning and then a little Italian cafe for lunch called Alfresco - I had THE best Tuna Melt Ciabatta of my life!

Images - Chester Cathedral inside and gardens.

Hope you guys enjoyed the sun too!

(p.s I promise there are a hell of a range of places to eat in Chester NOT just Italian - that's just my preference)

Catching up ...

I realise I haven't posted for a while - a few weeks at least.
I've been super busy with work for Uni (revision and essay writing) but my last deadline (of a 4,000 word essay) was hit on May 9th and my one and only exam this semester was on the 13th .... so for now I am FREE!

The photo's I have included give you a little insight into what I've been doing ....
